Just 20 minutes from Camping Acedo is Estella-Lizarra, a vibrant town steeped in history and with a great festive tradition. If you are lucky enough to visit the area at the beginning of August, you will find yourself in the middle of one of the most eagerly awaited celebrations in Navarre: Estella's Patron Saint Festivities.
When do they take place?
The fiestas always begin on the Friday before the first Sunday in August and last for a whole week. They are days of joy, music, good atmosphere and citizen participation. The streets of the historic centre are full of life from early in the morning until late at night.
A programme for all audiences
The festivities combine tradition with fun, and there are activities for all ages:
- Rocket and running of the bulls: The celebrations begin with the launching of the rocket from the town hall. Every morning, the running of the bulls runs through the streets of the town centre with excitement and large crowds.
- Comparsas of giants and big-heads: The youngest (and also the oldest) enjoy the dances of the giants, which are part of the local folklore.
- Musical performances: Local bands and orchestras animate the afternoons and evenings with open-air concerts.
- Peñas and festive atmosphereThe peñas of Estella organise vermuts, popular meals and other activities that fill every corner with colour.
Ideal to go from the campsite
Camping Acedo is the perfect starting point if you want to enjoy the fiestas without the constant hustle and bustle. You can spend the day in Estella-Lizarra and return to the campsite to rest in a peaceful and natural environment.
