A unique and well-preserved environment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With more than 9,000 hectares, Izki is the third largest natural park in the Basque Country. Its most characteristic feature is the extensive oak forest of Quercus pyrenaica, popularly known as melojos<\/em>, a species rarely found in the north of the peninsula. These lush forests, combined with rivers, ravines and plains, create a landscape that changes throughout the seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Izki's natural wealth is not limited to its vegetation. Birds of prey such as golden eagles, Egyptian vultures and common buzzards are a common sight in its skies. It is also a prime location for observing the middle spotted woodpecker, a rare species of woodpecker.
